Towards the attainment of health care, numerous stakeholders are involved, such as the medical practitioners in health facilities, the society, the patients themselves, and their families. Therefore, it is necessary for the Advanced Program for Registered Nurses to explore how each of the stakeholders operates to provide efficient and quality health care services. In the interest of the patient’s well-being, the APRN needs to institute family-based interventions to help the patients and their family members.  It is essential to explore the individual stages of each family member in acclimatization towards the health treatment of a loved one suffering from a chronic illness (Reiss, 1981)

            There has been research conducted towards instigating the mental capacity and health of the family members with children suffering from chronic illnesses such as type 1 and 2 diabetes,cancer,HIV, among others. In most of the studies,however, the limitation has been made towards this intervention for parents and guardians and not necessarily the whole family. These interventions have emphasized more on adherence to treatment schedules to progress better outcomes. They are informative as they provide educative awareness and approaches towards managing various chronic diseases among children and adolescents as they present consistent daily trials.

            From the available data by these studies, it is an indication that recognizing and tending to family interventions considerably improves patient well-being and even those of family struggling to manage these chronic ailments (Delameter et al., 1990). It is crucial, then, for the APRN to process how family members consolidate their thoughts and decide on efficient disease management methods consistent with their active lifestyle. It is also imperative to assess their mental health to help manage the stresses that could accumulate. The diseases hold dominance over family life and sacrifices on personal development and growth. It can also help the family contend with losses that could arise from these chronic ailments and mobilize the family’s support system (NCBI, 2001).
